Chappaqua is one of those special towns in Westchester County where everything seems beautiful, and then some. Not in a fake way - but with a nod to nature and the seasons.
When I arrived at this exterior color consultation, the existing house was a pale yellow. It was the beginning of spring when the white winter wonderland was over, and the grass was still pale, like straw, instead of the lush green it would soon become.
Pale yellow grass with a pale yellow house was simply, well, too pale. Unimpressive.
The house was set back from the street with a long driveway and tons of grass out front. Lush trees lined the back and sides.
We had to find a color that would look lovely on the home in all the seasons, as well as a color my client loved. After going through my library of color boards, and viewing them on the home, we decided on my favorite green for an exterior - Benjamin Moore Nantucket Gray HC-111.
Nantucket Gray is a gray with green undertones, and its reads as a green- a sophisticated and gracious green. Not a green that is too organic if you will, not a green that is too bold, and not a green that is too ethereal, but a green with substance and character, that can hold its own to the landscape.

The shutters are Benjamin Moore Black to relate to the black roof and railings, and feel classic.
The trim color is one of my favorites for woodwork - Benjamin Moore White Dove. White Dove reads white without feeling too stark or cold.
And my favorite part of an exterior consultation is always the door. Benjamin Moore Moroccan Spice AF-285 won out.

Notice how beautiful the Moroccan Spice Door relates to the flowering tree on the top of the property.
