Colorful Slate Tile Backsplash for Kitchen

I am crazy about this slate tile backsplash.

Put it in a kitchen I designed a few years ago, and just came across the picture.

The home was on the Hudson with a view of the river, making the slate so appropriate.

The slate tiles went so well with the natural maple cabinets and caesarstone quartz countertop.

I wish I had more pictures, but the day I stopped there, the kitchen was in full use and a mess!   It was such a great design.  The slate tile was not only used on the backsplash, but was continued on the rest of the wall in the kitchen.  Came out so awesome!

  1. I would really like to know where this backsplash was bought.... I just purchased a condo with Toffee colored maple cabinets and a gold tone granite counter top.... I think this slate would look awesome.... Love the colors and texture of this design.... Any information would really be appreciated....

  2. This is a WALKER ZANGER tile in the WATERFALL Collection - RIVER PATTERN - EARTH. Visit their website to find a location near you. We purchased the tile at Carminart Inc. in Westchester County, NY (Saw Miller River Rd in Elmsford).

I always recommend you look at the tile sample in the actual space with the granite before committing (color and design is all about context and relationships).

Keep in mind when you seal natural tile you have two choices, clear or an enhancer. An enhancer sealer will "enhance" the colors (bolder and deeper) and clear will protect the tiles but it doesn't change the color. Discuss with your tile installer. Good luck with your project!

Its a pleasure to help color your world.
